Pharmacy Infrastructure Overhaul
A complete technology backbone for a pharmacy: networking, POS, surveillance, virtualization, and secure remote access, deployed so the technology stays invisible to daily operations.
Situation
A pharmacy client needed a full technology backbone: point-of-sale, video surveillance, staff workstations, and management software, but wanted the tech to be invisible so staff could focus on running the pharmacy, not troubleshooting it.
Task
Design and deploy a complete, secure, reliable infrastructure covering networking, hardware, surveillance, data protection, and remote access, while integrating a third-party management software the client had already chosen.
Action
- Designed and installed the full network: cabling, switches, and connectivity for administration and point-of-sale systems.
- Deployed 6 security cameras feeding into an NVR running on-site.
- Supplied and configured POS systems, barcode scanners, cash drawers, and printers for daily operations.
- Built a virtualization server to host the client's chosen pharmacy management software, coordinating directly with the software's developer for integration.
- Ran a NAS on the same server for centralized, protected data storage.
- Set up WireGuard for secure remote access, so the client (or Gola) can manage the system without being on-site.
- Prioritized security and reliability throughout, so the technology stays in the background and staff never have to think about it.
Result
- A single, self-contained infrastructure — network, security, POS, data protection, and remote access — running reliably with a third-party vendor's software fully integrated.
- The client can operate day-to-day without any awareness of the systems underneath, which was the actual goal from the start.
- A separate long-running client, an architecture firm that started with Gola in 2019 for 4 workstations and a NAS, has grown into a ~25-employee company with a new office, new network, and a full GolaWS virtualization server handling file sharing and backup — an example of clients scaling with Gola rather than outgrowing it.
